About GreenSpirit Organisation
In this post, I will be discussing about the target organisation for this project GreenSpirit (not spelled as Green Spirit). It is a charity organisation registered in England and Wales, working under the slogan ‘We are a network of people who practise loving our living planet’ and further quoting ‘GreenSpirit is part of a wider green/eco-spirituality, and Earth-based, Gaia-centred movement, linking people across the planet’.
They work to recognise both the nature and humanity, science and spirituality in their activities, not denying the one over the other. They specifically focus on ‘green spirituality’ where they respect every part of the natural cycle and biosphere, taking both a scientific and spiritual stance of the life on Earth. These balance of ideologies and nature felt suitable for the target market for this project without being biased or drastic in my stance.
GreenSpirit has been working since 1995, following the paths on the development of Green Peace and similar green organisations from 1962 and having theological developments through the ideas of different priests such as Teilhard de Chardin and Thomas Berry. They were then further supported by Donald Reeves and St. James financially and theologically, helping the organisation continue on their activities. Now, GreenSpirit continues to work through their magazine publications, outreaches and domestic events. They mention the current trend of ‘big tech’ and political implications behind organisations as a potential threat to their organisation.
I have looked through their website, logo and publications and identified several design problems. While they aim to be open to everyone, young and old, their design are seemingly made to only target the elderly, with odd colours and founts being used. This may be due to their organisation being majorly composed of elderly or older members, however they do need an visual update if they want to be more attractive for everyone. This is why I aim to redesign their logo and magazine covers, which is more likely to be seen in public and immediately capture the attention of viewers. Additionally, besides the donations and magazine subscriptions they do, they sell merchandise of a mug with their logo on for financial support so I utilised my logo design to play a part of another merchandise which they could sell. While I do not aim to redesign their website in this project, however it can be a possibility for a future project.

Looking at the importance of the purpose of this organisation you make an interesting point about who this organisation is trying to attract. To that end, the use of a small font and a bland overall branding (on the website) seems to me to be less attractive to all members of society! The design looks as if it was created by someone with little knowledge of the process or understanding of branding. Identifying this as a brand that needed a revamp has been a really interesting project and so far you have made it a lot more accessible.
